Below are my standard freelance terms and conditions between myself, "the video editor" and you, "the client".
1. Form Submission and Contact:
After receiving the form, the video editor will contact the client to confirm receipt, clarify any necessary details, and discuss the next steps.
This will also be the time for the client to provide any required materials (footage, graphics, logos, etc.) to avoid project delays.
2. Payment Terms:
A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total project cost is required before the commencement of any work. An invoice will be issued, and payment must be completed within 5 business days.
The remaining 50% will be invoiced upon project completion and must be paid within 10 business days of the final invoice date.
The final deliverables will be provided within 2 business days upon receipt of full payment.
3. Revisions:
The project includes up to 3 revisions. The first revision will be free, but any additional revisions will be subject to an extra charge at the rate of $25 per hour/revision.
Revisions must be requested within 2 business days of receiving the project.
4. Project Timeline:
Project timelines will be agreed upon before the start of the project. Delays in providing required materials or feedback may result in project timeline adjustments.
5. Client Responsibilities:
The client must provide all necessary materials (footage, graphics, logos, etc.) before the project begins.
Any delays in providing materials may affect the project timeline.
The client agrees to ensure all materials provided are licensed or owned by them.
6. Cancellation Policy:
If the client cancels the project after the deposit is paid, the deposit is non-refundable.
If the project is canceled after work has commenced, the client will be invoiced for the work completed up to the point of cancellation.
7. Ownership and Rights:
The final edited video(s) will remain the property of the video editor until full payment is received.
Upon full payment, the client will receive full rights to the final deliverables. However, the client will not receive ownership of any project files, raw footage, or assets used in the creation of the final project.
While the client will have full ownership of the final deliverables, they may not claim full authorship of the work or represent it as solely their creation. Proper credit to the video editor must be maintained, and the client may not plagiarize or misrepresent the work as their own.
8. Promotional Use:
The video editor reserves the right to use the final project or excerpts from the project as part of their portfolio, website, social media, or other promotional material. If the client wishes to exclude their project from promotional use, this must be agreed upon in writing before the project begins.
9. Liability:
The video editor is not responsible for any copyright issues related to materials provided by the client.
The client agrees to ensure all materials provided are licensed or owned by them.
10. Confidentiality:
All project-related materials and communications will be kept confidential and not shared with third parties without the client's consent.
11. Acceptance of Terms:
By proceeding with the project and paying the deposit, the client agrees to these terms and conditions.
